Candle Tea is a Moravian tradition dating back to early American colonial times. Held on the first Saturday in December, it is a community open house and craft fair regarded by many as the opening event of the Christmas season. Guests are warmly greeted by volunteers wearing traditional 18th-century costumes; served sugar cake and coffee in the pews while listening to the music, songs and history of the Moravian Church. Following the initial greeting, guests are encouraged to tour our Christmas Bazaar - a wondrous display of food, arts and crafts. Proceeds generated by the Christmas Bazaar are spent wisely throughout the following year on community outreach programs, church upkeep, our youth and the elderly. Planning such an event is no easy task but with more than 550 years of dutiful Christian service, our member artists, artisans and cooks have lots of material to work with and recipes to share.
Come join us for our annual Candle Tea & Christmas Bazaar. Sip coffee and nibble sugar cake as you experience the sights and sounds of a traditional Moravian Christmas. Listen to live music as you wander a bazaar filled with sweets, chicken pies, apple pies, pottery, handmade beeswax candles, jams, jellies, jewelry, Moravian Stars and hundreds of other items. Local vendors will be displaying their wares where you just might find the “perfect” Christmas gift.
Please mark your calendar now (Saturday / December 3,

Bazaar here at New Hope Moravian Church. Sample our food, learn our rich
Moravian heritage, hear our music - we promise a family-friendly environment
with lots of Christian fellowship.
